The Bühler Group brought together about twenty clients with company experts of different European nationalities in the Belgian town of Ichtegem to present SORTEX® PolarVision™to which Michael PicalekSales Manager Director of the company, called it "the most groundbreaking innovation in optical sorting technology". It is a sophisticated technology, initially for its application in frozen fruits and vegetables -Although the company expects to extend its application to other segments soon, it combines two innovative developments for the detection of foreign materials: PolarCam™, InGasAsHD™with the ejection technology Ejector+.
SORTEX® PolarCam is an advanced foreign matter detection chamber which has been designed to visualize the difference between plant and non-plant matter regardless of color. This technology makes it possible to process different products or mixtures, with few or no configuration changes to locate non-plant materials such as dark particles, plastics, stones, shells and insects.
For its part, high-definition technology InGaAsHD offers a twice the resolution of the standard and can recognize the smallest particles of hazardous materials, half the size of its predecessor equipment.
This combination of technologies offers manufacturers a complete solution that reduces the need for adjustments between products. Specialized controls for foreign matter detection improve the usability of the systemThis makes it easier for the operator to handle. To maximize the full potential of SORTEX® PolarVision™, Bühler has developed the new team SORTEX Fwhich was shown during the presentation. While the new platform SORTEX F has been specifically designed for the application of SORTEX® PolarVision™This can also be implemented as an upgrade option for processors currently operating with the optical sorters SORTEX E1D from Bühler.
In addition to the classification developments PolarCam™ e InGasAsHD™the machine sets a new standard in ejection technologywith the Ejector+which employs a 25% more strength to remove denser contaminants. Along with the technology SmartEject™, the ejector system is capable of ejecting all types of contaminants or hazardous materials, from the finest wood particles to heavier pieces, such as glass or stone.
As he stated Ben Deefholts R&D specialist in Bühler, SORTEX® PolarVision™"takes optical control to the next level." In his speech, he explained how this cutting-edge technologyThe Commission has also been working on the development of a new methodology for the detection of a virus, noting that "based on our knowledge and understanding of the problems that processors face with existing technologies in detecting a virus, we have decided to develop a new methodology for the detection of a virus. cross-sectional variety of foreign bodiesIn order to ensure that the data was accurate, we decided to create an internal research project to analyze the full spectrum of data for a wide range of plant materials, considering both typical foreign materials and other contaminant samples that customers were finding and hard to detect using existing technology." Based on this analysis, "we used the results of the research to create a camera/optics combinationincluding a revised high-definition technology of InGaAs™ and a new infrared camera with background activity."
According to the expert, "fruit and vegetable processors often work with many different products in one line packaging in one day, so they need to be able to make changes easily. This means that they usually need generic foreign body removal equipment, with additional specific programs for color defects or shape-based vector errors. The SORTEX E y F with SORTEX® PolarVision™The new classifiers allow for a lot of adjustment to the more intuitive and better adapted to the variability of work on the packaging line".
For his part, Stephen JacobsThe Global Product Manager at Bühlerwas in charge of explaining, at the machine, the details of the new SORTEX Fin which, in addition to showing the viewing mode in the interface intuitive and easy to use, highlighted the features of hygienic design of the team that has a stainless steel structureThe newest addition to our range of products is the newest, most advanced, and most advanced, stainless steel air systems and hygienic grade fasteners, "to provide an unparalleled solution, with no possibility of product build-up in blind spots, for minimise the risk of contamination”.
To conclude, Jacobs added that "we are very excited about the development of this new technology. We believe that SORTEX® PolarVision™ is the first and only system on the market that can offer this superior type of foreign material detection on multiple products with total ease. This combined with the SORTEX F provides a breakthrough solution which addresses two of the biggest problems in the food industry today: the health and safety”.
